The Greatest July 28, 2010 NoahShops (CA, USA) This is the best shaving soap. Tabac is a hard, triple milled soap that will last three or more times longer than any soft soaps or tubed creams. So in the long run it will be cheaper. More importantly it has protected my face from nicks better than anything else I have tried including Proraso. The scent is very close to Sandalwood. It is masculine and it washes off after you wash your face. I had reservations about purchasing such an expensive soap but it is worth it and I know it will save me money in the long run. This soap is perfect for people with sensitive skin and tough beards.
Simply the best I hove found. June 18, 2010 Aryn M. Linnane (Saint Marys, GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a wet shaver and I use a double edge safety blade. I have been wet shaving for about 4 months. I have tried a few soaps. tube creams, and countless products in a can. This soap is straight up the best you will use.
The scent is great although it goes not last after the shave. The scent can best be described as pure man. If you are a man you will be pleased with the scent. No matter how you whip it up it will be thick and creamy very fast.
Don't Like the Smell May 22, 2010 J. Stallings (Louisiana) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have not tried the product's performance. The smell is a cross between what an elderly man would smell like and a woman. I can't really get past it. If I were to get very creative, I could say it has a "tobacco" scent, but that's like Dr. Pepper saying it has 23 flavors. I may force myself to try it soon. If it works wonders, I'll be sure to update my review.
Legendary Tabac May 22, 2010 BurtReynolds (Northern Virginia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of my first shaving soaps when I went "old school" using a safety razor and a badger hair brush for what used to be a daily chore. Tabac lathers real easily and provides a nice smooth shave. I for one enjoy the scent. It is a good masculine scent, but it doesn't linger for too long, so you could probably continue to use the soap if you weren't a huge fan of the scent. As I said this is was my first soap, and is a soap that will remain a part of my shave den until they stop making it (lets hope that never happens).
This soap is fantastic, and the smell is not overpowering May 12, 2010 David J. Huber (New York, NY United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read the reviews here about this soap and was intrigued by those who said it was a brilliant soap, but was dismayed by those who said it was overpowering in smell/perfumery, because I am super sensitive to perfumes/colognes.
But I bought it anyway to give it a shot, and holy cow, this is great!!
When I first opened it, the smell was quite strong, but not obnoxious - brought back a bit of that old barber shop nostalgia. A man's smell.
But, that quickly dissipated (caveat: I also never put the lid back on the thing, so it's always exposed to air, which I'm sure helped get some of the smell out of it) and now it's just a great shaving soap.
Makes a fantastic foam, it's soft, and helps the razor glide over my face with no abrasions, rubbings, nicks, or other bad stuff.
I am really, really, really sold on this shaving soap.
