| Customer Reviews: Rich Lather January 29, 2010 Grecoaussie (Atlanta, GA) Rich lather that does a great job. Eucalyptus and Menthol took some getting used to but it is not an issue. I recommend!
Expensive, but worth it for a quality shave. January 10, 2010 M.D.C. (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been using shaving soaps for a few years now. I find them to be significantly more cost effective than foams or gels. They also give a better quality shave over those others. As far as soaps I've used many different brands, but this one gives a better quality shave overall. I want to be clear that the menthol and eucalyptus scents are very subtle - about what you'd get if you smelled a eucalyptus leaf. They're not overpowering, even in steam, and it lathers quite thick and smooth. This comes as a whipped soap, not a puck, so it's also easier to build up a lather out of it.
The shave itself will be as close as you want to make it, as long as you use the right razor. For the absolute best I recommend a safety razor like Merkur, but that's up to you. You'll also want to use a badger brush for the correct lathering and application, but again, that's up to you.
Highly recommended for the best possible shave.
Much better than the canned stuff December 12, 2009 D. Borrego (Michigan) Very good shaving soap, I love the clean scent it leaves as opposed to the hospital smell you get with canned foam. It is expensive but it lasts much longer than a can of shaving cream so it's actually cheaper in the long run.
It takes a little effort to make the lather with a brush and there is a learning curve (getting the right ratio of soap and water, etc) but once you get it right you'll be able to make the lather quickly.
Great stuff! December 8, 2009 B. Fortier I have been using Proraso for a couple weeks now (using an Omega bristle brush) and I can honestly say that I will not be going back to cans ever. Nice thick cream and a good clean smell.
Good shaving soap October 28, 2009 B. Paudert (Mississippi) I've tried several shaving soaps and creams over the last few months and this is my favorite. It lathers better than the others and I love the menthol smell. For under $10 you can't go wrong with this shaving soap. It seems extremely similar if not identical to the C.O. Bigelow brand for less $$.
